Surgical Treatment of Esophageal Stricture

When it fails, surgery is offered. Surgery for Esophageal stricture consists of taking the stomach or large intestine (colon) through the chest into the neck and joining it to some part of non-damaged part of the esophagus in the neck. This restores the food passage, relieves symptoms and allows the patients to eat normally.
